Teacher: John Hamilton
Purpose: This class explores what it looks like to walk, day by day, in the Spirit already given to us. Building on the foundation of what we believe about the Holy Spirit, we will spend seven weeks learning to walk with him: dying to our old self and rising to new life, resting in the assurance of our adoption, hearing God’s voice through his Word, seeking wisdom for the choices Scripture does not directly address, finding courage for witness, discovering how the Spirit has gifted us for service, and joining what God is renewing in the world around us. Participants will leave with a practical grasp of the Spirit’s ongoing work in their lives and with clarity about their next step of service within our church.
Overview: This Core Class is one of our Community Life classes on Christian Practice, which forms disciples in the rhythms and disciplines of the Rule of Life. It assumes teaching from our Christian Doctrine class on the Holy Spirit and does not revisit that ground. Instead, it begins where doctrine ends, with a believer already made alive, and asks a single question each week: what does it look like to walk, this week, in step with the Spirit?
